Photonics Research Foundation is an autonomous, non-profit making organization, devoted to strengthen and further the cause of science and technology, and related research in India. Photonics Research Foundation was founded by Sreerengayammal memorial educational and charitable trust established with the interest of promoting research interests in the field of Science, Engineering and Technology. Foundation has sophisticated instrumentation facility to carryout the research in the above said fields. With the active involvement and contribution of eminent and hardworking faculty and researchers, the foundation proposed to apply for recognization with various universities in Tamilnadu. The objectives of the foundation are to continuously upgrade the research activities and to contribute in the frontier areas of Science, Engineering and Technology.
The foundation proposed to apply for several major national research programs supported by National funding agencies such as DST, DAE, DRDO, UGC, ISRO, MNES, DOE, BRNS, IUAC, CSIR, Tamilnadu Government etc. The mandate of the foundation was also to promote the research interests of the researchers from all over India under the visitors program.
The foundation also plans to organize several National/ International conferences/ Workshops/Seminars/Symposium to constantly promote research and development activities.The Foundation has an eminent team of scientists with a record of important achievements in successfully commercializing its innovations.
As a no-profit foundation it also proposes to conduct suitable activities to effectively turn the new generations curiosity about so-called incomprehensible science into the satisfaction of knowledge as to what science is all about. Students with superior abilities contribute towards the growth and prosperity of the society with their excellent achievements in science, technology and humanities. It is the mission of the foundation to ensure that no such talent goes waste, and to provide these bright sparks with enabling infrastructure and facilities in the form of financial assistance, monitoring, guidance and encouragement.With this charitable motive as well as social and nationalistic view in mind, the following activities are contemplated :
The primary aim to motivate and recognize the high level of team and individual efforts of scientists, engineers, technologists and research students for their contributions in “advancement of knowledge in applying for good of the people” by way of scientific research and innovations.
Applied research leading to commercialisation of technology, new initiatives in the R&D support systems, to recognize unusual merit in individuals from the scientific and supporting staff and to promote the safety culture in the laboratory.
- To give awards, institute fellowships or scholarships, stipends, remuneration and/or other similar payments to scientists and research scholars to facilitate their undertaking a high level of scientific and technological research in the area of interest.
- To establish and support professions, fellowships, lectureships, scholarships and prizes.
- To award scholarships and fellowships and grants to scientists and research scholars by way of loan and otherwise and on such terms and conditions, as the trustees may think fit for the purpose of undertaking, prosecuting and encouraging research work in branches of science and technology of interest.
- To print, publish and exhibit or subsidies the publication of any pamphlets, or posters relating to the research done by scientists and research scholars.
- To promote, develop and improve scientific exchange of knowledge as well as technical cooperation between research institutions having objects similar to that of the foundation.
- To do all acts, matters and things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above aims and objects or any one or more of them.
- To takeover or amalgamate with other charitable society or trust with similar objects.
- To claim funds from government and private agencies to carry out research work in current development.
- To affiliate with near by university to start Research Programme.
- The activities enumerated above will be absolutely cost-free to the students and schools or other invitees who benefit from them. At no stage will they be asked to pay for the cost by way of entry fee or whatever.
